It all came down to Morrowind, and thanks to Todd Howard and company, it was a immediate success and is still considered to be a pioneer in the video game community. The first two games in the series, Arena and Daggerfall, did well enough to make a splash in the PC market, but Bethesada still wasn’t making enough to stay afloat and were actually hemorrhaging capital into other unnecessary ventures that went nowhere. Morrowind is the third installment of the now famous Elder Scrolls franchise, but what a lot of newer fans don’t realize is that if this title didn’t succeed then Bethesda may not even be around today. Today, and only today, you can claim one of the greatest RPG’s of the early 2000’s on PC for free through Bethesda’s Launcher, and that game is The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. All you have to do is redeem the code TES25TH-MORROWIND to have the game added to your library. Today officially marks the 25th Anniversary of the Elder Scrolls series, and Bethesda found an excellent way to kick off the festivities.
